During setup, you will be asked to choose a username and team number. For the username, choose anything you want (your name, username, location, favorite sports team, etc.). You do not have to register it anywhere. For the team number, enter 61370. This is the SlashMySearch.com team number. We do not benefit from this, its just a nice way of bringing our community together.
Go on using your computer just like before while the application works helping researchers find cures for the horrible diseases.
This application uses your CPU's idle time. This means that it will have absolutely no effect on your computer's performance. You can do things like before while it runs in the tray/background. The application runs under on the lowest priority mode in windows. Windows will only schedule it CPU cycles if they are unused. This program is 100% optional and we only provide it to keep with our philanthropy goals. We already donate money to charities every month, now we can donate more while our members help us.
This is a great way to possibly help thousands of people while costing you nothing. You never know, this could help you some day. Unfortunately, we are unable to give you activity credit for using this program. We run this program on many of our machines at SMS and truly believe in its purpose.
